A large, multi site manufacturing organisation with offices and production environments in the UK and US. Their IT environment supports a mix of office staff, production teams, and central IT systems, with a strong focus on security and access control.
The client wanted to strengthen workstation security by moving away from password only logins. Their goal was to require users to authenticate using physical YubiKey devices when signing in to Windows, reducing the risk of compromised credentials and unauthorised access across the business.
We worked closely with the client’s US IT team to design and deploy a YubiKey login solution that integrated with their existing Active Directory environment. This included configuring the required server components, applying group policies to control how and where YubiKeys were enforced, and carefully testing the setup to ensure business critical systems such as Microsoft 365 and Teams continued to work as expected. Rollout was phased and tested with key users before wider deployment.
The client now has a more secure login process, with users required to have their YubiKey present to access their PCs. This significantly reduced reliance on passwords and improved protection against account compromise. The project delivered improved security without disrupting day to day operations, giving the client confidence that their workforce can work securely across offices and production environments.
