A well established UK manufacturing company producing printed labels for commercial customers. Their internal systems support day to day operations, customer records, and business critical documents.
Following the departure of an employee, a company laptop was unintentionally wiped and rebuilt, resulting in the loss of important business data. The client needed to understand whether any information could still be recovered and, if possible, restore access to the missing files.
We securely removed the laptop drive and connected it to our own internal recovery systems. After confirming the drive could still be accessed, we ran an in depth recovery scan to search for recoverable data that had been removed during the reinstallation process. Given the size of the drive and the nature of the recovery, the process was managed carefully over several days to maximise the chances of success while keeping the client informed throughout.
A significant portion of the lost data was successfully recovered, helping the client regain access to critical business information that would otherwise have been permanently lost. Following this, we discussed practical steps to reduce future risk, including improved backup practices and better handling procedures for employee devices, giving the business greater resilience moving forward.
