A private residential care home located in West Sussex.
With the adoption of additional technology usage in the home i.e video calling, it was made clear that residents were not achieving the internet speeds required. It was deemed that the original solution required a refresh and new hardware investment was important for increased efficiencies.
ABM visited the large site to complete a survey, using heat-mapping software we determined signal strength throughout the home. With this map it identified where the best position for additional access points would be, and this consequently required a new cabling structure. A second internet line was installed which provided separate access for staff and residents. Three new switches were supplied, AP's and a higher capacity router were provided to support the new infrastructure or replace existing outdated hardware. After preconfiguring all technology offsite, we installed and tested it thoroughly. Part of the configuration provided separate staff and resident WiFi networks, providing a segregated and secure network/Internet access
By making key changes to the infrastructure to accommodate growth and their clients' requirements the care home now finds improved functionality. Separating residents and staff onto two different lines has allowed for a more efficient work environment and residents are much happier.
