Our client was looking for a seamless solution to migrate from a Microsoft Small Business Server to an on-premise virtualised Microsoft Server 2019 and Exchange 2019 implementation.
ABM would provide a virtualised server solution running HP Proliant and two Microsoft Windows 2019 Servers, the first a domain controller and the second Microsoft Exchange Mail server.
ABM started by replicating and testing the entire migration in a sand-box environment to prove our implementation would work as required. Followed by building a Hyper-V server using HP Proliant equipment, we virtualised a Windows 2019 Server in readiness for building a domain controller and Exchange Mail server. After running into issues due to Covid-19, we changed the project scope and included an additional step to eliminate the need for engineers onsite, albeit to install the hardware. After several steps, ABM's team transferred the customers data storage to the new 2019 domain controller; migrating domain controller primary roles to the new 2019 server then demoted and removed the old SBS 2011 server for retirement. The final step was to migrate email data from the Exchange 2016 server to a new 2019 Exchange environment. Our customer no longer needs to worry about outdated technology or security.
